FREE Webinar - Safe and Ethical Use of AI for Psychotherapists
Faculty: Tony Rousmaniere, PsyD • Alexandre Vaz, PhD • Milena Esherick, PsyD
Date: September 22nd, 2025 – 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST
Cost: FREE
Join us for a practical and thought-provoking exploration of how psychotherapists can safely and ethically integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their clinical work.
In this session, we’ll go beyond the headlines and share real-world experiences from supervisors and therapists who have seen clients use AI tools such as ChatGPT in ways that can be helpful, harmful, or somewhere in between. Drawing from recent research and dozens of client stories, we’ll explore how therapists can respond effectively to this growing trend.
Attendees will learn:
Real use cases and outcomes: Hear examples of how clients are already using AI for grounding techniques, journaling, relationship guidance, and more — and how therapists are navigating these conversations.
Common worries and ethical pitfalls: From privacy and bias to overreliance and avoidance, we’ll unpack the biggest concerns therapists have about AI, and what evidence tells us about these risks.
Practical guidance for safe integration: Learn strategies for talking with clients about AI, assessing its impact on treatment, and setting clear boundaries around its use.
Key findings from recent research: We’ll present highlights from Sentio’s and other’s ongoing safety studies, including data on harmful responses, cultural sensitivity, and how AI compares to human care in perceived empathy.
Opportunities for clinician leadership: Discover ways therapists can help shape the ethical development and oversight of AI in mental health.
This webinar is designed for clinicians, supervisors, and educators who want to stay ahead of the curve — whether you’re new to AI, skeptical of it, or already experimenting with these tools in your work.
