Spring Semester MFT545: Trauma & Crisis Intervention, Fridays 9am-12pm PST

$1,500.00

Fridays 9am-Noon Pacific Standard Time, Spring Semester 01/20/2026-04/10/2026 (12 three-hour classes)

Professor: Angela Jensen-Ramirez

The Trauma & Crisis Intervention course provides an in-depth, evidence-informed exploration of how therapists can effectively respond to both acute crises and chronic trauma. Students are educated on the common psychological, emotional, and physiological symptoms of both acute and complex trauma, including their developmental and relational origins. Students are then introduced to several of the most influential trauma-focused models, including Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), Emotion-Focused Therapy for Trauma (EFTT), EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Each model is examined through its theoretical foundation, research base, core interventions, and clinical indications and contraindications. Through conceptual lectures, extensive video demonstrations, and experiential deliberate practice exercises, students learn to apply treatment models that best fit particular trauma presentations and client readiness. Emphasis is placed on trauma-specific memory processing, emotional engagement with avoided material, parts work, and the therapist’s attunement to client safety and stabilization throughout the therapy process.

Sentio University is now offering a limited number of spots for licensed therapists and graduate students from other institutions to audit select semester-long courses. This is a unique opportunity to engage with the innovative Sentio Deliberate Practice curriculum, experienced faculty, and dynamic learning environment—without the commitment of full enrollment.

  • Learn cutting-edge methods grounded in Deliberate Practice and experiential training.

  • Observe live clinical demonstrations and receive faculty feedback.

  • Join a community of engaged, forward-thinking therapists.

  • Stay current on theory and technique without the pressure of assignments.

  • Deepen clinical skills in a low-stakes, high-value environment.

“I have really been enjoying the course. It's quite different from my grad program. In my program there were a lot of lectures without rich clinical examples, or certainly without videos. There was little practice. There certainly were occasions where we watched clinical videos, and occasions where we practiced, but that seems like it was a relatively small part of the program. Certainly nothing like Sentio.” - Audit Student at Sentio
