Leading the Way: Sentio University Joins the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI)

At Sentio University, we believe that the future of mental health isn’t just about adopting new technology, but about ensuring that technology is safe, ethical, and clinically sound. That is why we are proud to announce that Sentio University has officially become an affiliate of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI).

What is IASEAI?

IASEAI is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that artificial intelligence benefits humanity. By bridging the gap between technical safety and ethical governance, IASEAI brings together Nobel laureates, leading researchers, and policymakers to set the standards for the "founding cohort" of responsible AI organizations.

Why This Matters for Mental Health

While many graduate programs are still debating whether to allow AI in the classroom, Sentio is already at the table helping to regulate it. As an IASEAI affiliate, Sentio joins a select group of institutions committed to high-level global oversight. For our students and the broader clinical community, this affiliation reinforces Sentio’s position as the first graduate program in mental health to formally integrate safe and ethical AI training.

Evidence-Based Leadership: Advancing Clinical Safety Standards

Sentio University advances the scientific discourse on safe AI implementation, built upon a foundation of peer-reviewed research and strategic partnerships with world-leading AI safety organizations.

  • Setting Educational Standards: We are the first to develop a hands-on AI Certification Course that trains clinicians to use AI as a tool for clinical reasoning without sacrificing human empathy.

  • Leading with Evidence-Based Research: While many programs offer opinions on AI, Sentio is actively publishing the data that shapes the field. Our broad range of research includes a national survey identifying AI as a major mental health provider, a clinical safety evaluation comparing how leading LLMs handle crisis scenarios, and one of the largest qualitative studies on how users actually experience AI for mental health support.

  • Collaborating with Global AI Safety Leaders: Through our collaboration with the Digital Safety Research Institute (DSRI) at UL Research Institutes, we are conducting expert-led "red teaming" of AI systems. By involving licensed clinicians in evaluating AI responses to high-risk crisis scenarios, we are helping to build the first expert-informed safety benchmarks to protect vulnerable users globally.

  • Influencing Global Policy: As an affiliate of International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI), Sentio is working to ensure that the specific needs of the mental health field are represented in global AI governance discussions.

Looking Ahead

The AI revolution is moving faster than the mental health profession has ever had to adapt. By aligning with IASEAI, Sentio University isn't just following the trend; we are helping to write the rulebook for the next generation of therapists.

Stay tuned for more updates from our AI Research Program, and join us in Paris for the IASEAI 2026 conference, where we will continue to advocate for a future where technology enhances, rather than replaces, the essential human connection of therapy.
