Class of 2026: 100% Licensed, 100% Employed

Sentio University’s first class graduated in May 2026. Here is what happened next.

• 100% were registered as Associate Marriage and Family Therapists by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences within six weeks of graduation.
• 100% were working in the field within three months.
• They are seeing clients in private practice, in community mental health agencies, in schools, and in nonprofit organizations across California.

Why this happened

Sentio built the program around a single test: whether a graduate can actually do the work on day one.

Students train in Deliberate Practice every week, rehearsing specific therapeutic skills the way musicians rehearse difficult passages. They begin seeing real clients at the Sentio Counseling Center in their second semester, accumulate more than 400 supervised clinical hours before they graduate, and learn multiple therapy models. Every client session is videotaped so supervisors and faculty can provide specific feedback to improve students’ clinical skills. With a 4:1 student to faculty ratio, faculty know every student’s clinical work in detail.

Graduates tell us their employers have commented on how exceptionally well prepared they are to do therapy.

The job search starts before graduation

Sentio’s final semester includes Therapist Career Development, a course built entirely around the move from student to working clinician. Students do not wait for a diploma to begin: they apply for jobs during the course, with faculty support building their resume, writing cover letters, and networking. Multiple students were hired into positions they applied for during the class!

The course also includes:

• Advice for interviewing
• Creating a LinkedIn profile
• Preparation to pass the California Law & Ethics Exam
• How to find good employment opportunities

What comes next

The Class of 2026 is now accumulating supervised hours toward full LMFT licensure. Sentio’s second cohort graduates in 2027.
